Venture IQ - Catalist - using Google data

Venture IQ - Catalist is a connector to Catalist database. When you install the add-on, you're asked to log in to Catalist database, that you have to have prior account. Successful login results in uniquely identifiable token - API Token, which is further used in communication with Catalist database API. That API Token is stored only in users spreadsheet, on Google's servers.

We use Google’s PropertyService which allows us to attach limited data, like API Token, to the spreadsheet itself, which is then stored on Google’s servers. We then use Google Apps Script which runs exclusively on Google servers. Data coming from Google's PropertyService, or user's spreadsheet is never used in Catalist database API calls.

Our code can only access your data while you’re accessing the add-on. We don’t sync your data to our own servers and we don’t have any direct access to your data.

We collect analytics data that uses a unique identifier for you and tracks app usage such as running API requests.

We at Venture IQ do not have access to view any of the information stored in your Sheets nor any of your saved API parameters/headers.

An example of the data collected is that a user made 100 API requests this month, with detailed timestamps. This data is collected so that we can improve feature performance and cater further development to user needs.

Every app that Google approves must go through a strict security & privacy approval process, including ours. Google’s Cloud Platform/API Trust & Safety Team has approved the Venture IQ - Catalist add-on for the 3 following “scopes”, which you can see on the OAuth screen in the screenshot above:

See, edit, create, and delete your spreadsheets in Google Drive
Scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets. This permission allows the add-on to manipulate the spreadsheet to be able to insert the API data.
Connect to an external service
Scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/script.external_request. This permission is necessary for the add-on to be able to make API calls to Catalist database API.
Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications
‍Scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/script.container.ui. This permission allows the add-on to be inserted into the menu of Google Sheets so you can open the add-on in a sidebar and make API requests.

When you install and open the add-on for the first time, Google will ask you to allow access for the 3 permissions listed above.

We do not have access to view any of the information stored in your Sheets or any of your saved API information. All of your spreadsheet/API information is stored by Google and we don’t have access to it.

None of your API or spreadsheets information is synced to our servers.

We do not share uniquely identifiable token - API Token with any third-parties.

Information we collect and receive.

We collect several different types of information to provide Services to you, including:

Customer Account and Registration Data:

This includes information you have provided to create your Catalist account.

Service Data (including Session and Usage data):

When you use our Services, we receive information generated by your browser and your actions. We collect your browser type, IP address, the resource you have requested from Catalist and statistics about your usage of the Catalist platform. Furthermore, when you use the Venture IQ extension we receive the url of every website you visit while the Catalist extension is active. If you do not want this information shared you may disable or uninstall the extension or use a private browsing mode with all extensions unloaded.

How We Use the Information We Collect and Receive

Venture IQ may access and use the data we collect as necessary (a) to provide and maintain the Services; (b) to address and respond to service, security, and customer support issues; (c) to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, unlawful, or technical issues; (d) as required by law; (e) to fulfil our contracts; (f) to improve and enhance the Services; (g) to provide analysis or valuable information for internal use.

Our third party service providers may also use cookies and local storage to provide their services.

Some specific examples of how we use the information:

Monitoring access to Catalist for unlawful or unauthorised access
Send you updates about the Catalist platform and Venture IQ services
Provide reporting and analysis about your usage of Catalist

Cookies and Local Storage

Catalist uses cookies and local storage to track user traffic patterns and store registration and login information. We store your personal user preferences and recent data about your Catalist usage in Local Storage. You can clear your local storage and cookies at any time and you will need to re-authenticate with Catalist after you do so. Local storage is essential to the correct operation of Catalist and disabling it will prevent proper operation of the Catalist platform.

Information Sharing

Ensuring your privacy is important to us. We do not share your personal information with third parties in any way, however anonymized usage analytics are required to facilitate the integration of the Twitter feed for companies; company logos from Clearbit.com and analytics functions from Google and Cloudflare.

Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint about Venture IQ’s privacy practices you should write to us at:

Transfer of Business

What happens to your information if there’s a change in business ownership or structure. If ownership or of all or substantially all of our business changes, or we undertake a corporate reorganisation (including merger or consolidation) or any other action or transfer between Venture IQ entities, you expressly consent to Venture IQ transferring your information to the new owner or successor entity so that we can continue providing our services. If required, Venture IQ will notify the applicable data protection agency in each jurisdiction of such transfer in accordance with the notification procedures under the applicable data protection laws.

Changes to this Statement / Contact Us

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our information practices. If we make any material changes we will provide notice on the website of https://VentureIQ.nl and we may notify you by email (sent the address specified in your account), prior to the change becoming effective. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices. If you continue to use the Services after those changes are in effect, you agree to the revised policy.
